Russell  Boyce, D.Acad., D.S.D.(R.S.A.M.D.), B.A.(Dramatic Studies), F.R.S.A.M.D., F.R.S.A.

Dr. Boyce spent most of his career at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where he was Director and Dean of Drama. So most of his life has been concerned with training actors, directors and drama teachers.

His work for Scotvec, the Scottish Examination Board and the Scottish Qualifications Authority, which meant establishing a formal examination in drama in Scottish schools, combined with his validation of courses to post-graduate level, gives him the distinction of being the foremost expert in drama assessment in Scotland.

As a Director, his work has been seen and admired in many countries, including an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First.   Recently he directed “The Elephant Man” for the Hungarian-speaking state theatre in Romania.

A long supporter of the amateur movement, he has been an Adviser with the Scottish Community Drama Association and Convenor of the Scottish Association of Speech and Drama Adjudicators.    He has adjudicated at all major Festivals, including the All Ireland Finals, All Ireland Confined Finals, Scottish and British One Act Finals.

Having been a lyricist for both opera and oratorio, having run arts festivals, having adjudicated nationally, having taught drama in over ten countries, Russell Boyce has proved himself as a true man of the theatre.

Glenamaddy Drama Festival would like to extend a warm welcome to Russell and we hope that he enjoys his first visit to our Festival.
